Game Rules
Hearthstone Battlegrounds Standard Ruleset
1. Lobby Configuration
Each Battlegrounds lobby uses its own Match Room. Only players assigned to that lobby and tournament admins may access that room.
Before each game begins, one player will be assigned as the lobby host. Players in the lobby must add the host if required, receive an invite, and confirm readiness through the Match Room before the host starts the game.
2. Lobby Host Responsibilities
The assigned lobby host is responsible for sharing the required Battle.net information, inviting all players assigned to that lobby, and starting the game only after all required players are present and marked ready through the Match Room.
3. Match Format
The winner is determined by the highest total score accumulated across all games.
4. Scoring System
Players earn points based on final placement in each game:
1st: 9 · 2nd: 7 · 3rd: 6 · 4th: 5 · 5th: 4 · 6th: 3 · 7th: 2 · 8th: 1
If two or more players tie for placement, the points for the tied positions are added together and divided equally among the tied players.
5. Result Reporting & Proof
After each game, players must report their final placement through the Match Room.
Players are expected to take and keep screenshots of final placements. Screenshots may be requested if a placement dispute occurs.
Tournament admins may review reported placements and supporting screenshots to resolve result issues.
6. Disconnects & Technical Issues
Technical issues, disconnects, and client problems do not automatically guarantee a restart.
Tournament admins may review technical issues and decide whether a game should continue, be replayed, or otherwise be resolved based on the severity of the issue, the timing of the issue, and the effect on competitive fairness.
Players may be asked to provide screenshots or other supporting evidence when reporting a technical issue.
7. Competitive Integrity
All participants are expected to compete fairly and follow tournament and platform integrity rules at all times.
Cheating, collusion, account sharing, intentionally misleading result reports, or other unfair competitive behavior is prohibited.
8. Tiebreakers
If two or more players finish with the same total score, ties are resolved in the following order:
- Best Single-Game Placement — The player with the highest single-game finishing placement ranks higher.
- Most 1st Place Finishes — If the tie remains, the player with the greater number of 1st place finishes ranks higher.
- Admin Decision — If the tie still cannot be resolved, tournament admins will apply the final tiebreak decision.
9. Admin Procedures
Tournament admins may assign lobby hosts, review result reports, verify screenshots, resolve disputes, delay or restart lobbies when necessary, and communicate official rulings through the platform.
All official tournament decisions will be communicated through the platform and the correct lobby Match Room where relevant.
